What’s in a name?
The Treasure Coast name’s origin goes back to the 18th century. In the early 1800s a fleet of Spanish ships carrying gold, silver, and precious jewels crashed and sank right off the southeastern Florida coast. The treasure sank and can still be found washed up on shore to this day. This unfortunate blunder gave this area its well-deserved name making the Treasure Coast not just a great place for relaxation, but also an ideal spot for modern day treasure hunting.
